Timothy Scott, City Council Position 5
Personal History
Mr. Scott has resided in Lake Jackson since 1985 with his wife Lee and two sons, Drew and Casey after working with Dow in Michigan twice and once in Houston.  Mr. Scott and wife Lee are members of the First Christian Church. 

Mr. Scott is a graduate of the U. S. Naval Academy earning a Bachelor of Science degree in International Relations; with post graduate and executive education courses taken at the Joint Armed Services Defense Information School, New York Institute of Technology and Kellogg School of Business at Northwestern University.  
 
Before joining Dow, Mr. Scott served as an officer in the U. S.  Navy on the first crew of the USS Nimitz and in the Navy's New York Information Office.  Mr. Scott also had training deployments on the USS Guadalcanal and USS Plymouth Rock.
 

Mr. Scott is currently the Chief Security Officer & Corporate Director of Emergency Services & Security (ES&S) for the Dow Chemical Company and a member of Dow's Corporate Crisis Management team.  Mr. Scott will retire from Dow mid-2017.

During Mr. Scott's role at Dow, he has served on the executive committee of the Chemical Sector Coordinating Council of the Department of Homeland Security, was a member of the inaugural US Coast Guard National Maritime Security Advisory Committee and co-chaired a Chemical Sector Case Study on Information Sharing sponsored by the US National Infrastructure Advisory Council.  Mr. Scott has testified as a subject matter expert representing Dow and the American Chemical Council before several congressional committees and more recently has served as the industry representative on the US Delegation to the G7 Chemical Security Sub-Working Group. 

Mr. Scott has been recognized by Security Magazine as one of the 25 most influential security executives in the U. S.  He was a finalist for the Leadership Excellence Award sponsored by the Harvard Business Review and the United States Naval Academy's Stockdale Center for Ethical Leadership.  Most recently, Mr. Scott was recognized by Frost & Sullivan's Manufacturing Leadership Council as a 2016 recipient of the Visionary Leadership award. 

Community Involvement
As the Texas Operations Public Affairs Manager from 1985-1988, Mr. Scott participated in the initial development and implementation of the Community Awareness & Emergency Response (CAER) initiative in 1985 and the TRANSCAER initiative created by Union Pacific Railroad and Dow the following year.  Dow Texas Operations and the Brazosport community were the first to implement the CAER program in the United States.

Mr. Scott is a past Chairman of Brazoria County United Way and recipient of the United Way's William D. Colegrove Volunteer of the Year award, and past Chairman of the 100 Club of Brazoria County.  Mr. Scott's wife, Lee has also served as the 100 Club's Executive Director.
