[ARCHIVED] UNEXPECTED OBSTACLE: LANDFILL LINES

LANDFILL POST

Thank you to everyone who has been patient and encouraging to our staff and crews as we continue dealing with Beryl cleanup. Tomorrow, Thursday, August 8, will be ONE MONTH since the hurricane made landfall.

We are not the only ones with a lot of Beryl debris. Almost every city in the region is bringing uncharacteristically large piles of trash and debris to the Seabreeze Landfill. The site is now backed up and landfill staff are trying to manage the increased amount coming to it.

Our garbage truck crews also wait in the line. To show you how long it is, they took this post photo today, Wednesday morning.  We are dealing with an unexpected obstacle now.  The ripple effect the landfill line causes means we are running late on routes. You will see less bagged leaves being picked up because we will remove trash first. We will come back for bagged leaves. Do not be alarmed. We know if you have more, and we will get them.

We are managing the room inside the garbage truck. Trash collection will be prioritized.  Our crews are working as fast as they can, and we know the landfill staff are also working as best they can. We appreciate your patience as we all work to restore Lake Jackson.
