[ARCHIVED] Fire Hydrant Flushing 2017

The Lake Jackson Water Department will be flushing fire hydrants March 31st & April 7th. This activity will be performed from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM

As a result of the flushing procedure, residents may experience temporary discoloration of their water. This discoloration consists of harmless silt and precipitates and does not affect the safety of the water.

However, you will want to check for discoloration of the water at your home. If you experience discoloration in your water after crews have been flushing in your neighborhoods, you can clear the pipes in your home by running all water faucets for a minute or two or until clear.

The process of periodically flushing fire hydrants is an important preventive maintenance activity. Although it may appear to waste water, this flushing is necessary. If you have any questions or concerns, please call 979-415-2683.
Thank you.
