[ARCHIVED] PRESS RELEASE: VELASCO DRAINAGE DISTRICT’S FLOODGATE AND DRAINAGE PIPE IMPROVEMENTS PROJECTS FOR R

                                           NOTICE TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC
                                          OF VELASCO DRAINAGE DISTRICT’S
FLOODGATE AND DRAINAGE PIPE IMPROVEMENTS PROJECTS
                                                                   FOR
                                                      RIVER OAKS SUBDIVISION

ATTENTION: Residents, Police, Fire, EMS, School District, City Employees and others.

Velasco Drainage District will be installing a cure in place storm sewer pipe liner at the River Oaks outfall located between 204 and 206 River Oaks. The material shipping and prep work have already begun with contractors scheduled to be onsite from Wednesday April 19, 2017 to Friday April 21, 2017.

The majority of the work will take place behind the sidewalks, but the large equipment may be blocking one or two lanes of the street intermittently. The contractors will be accessing the drainage pipes from both sides of River Oaks Street as well as the drainage outfall by Oyster Creek.

The heavy machinery should not enter any private properties without contacting the owner, and we expect the work to be confined to the drainage easement and street right-of-way. Velasco Drainage District’s (VDD) contractor will be responsible for repairing the areas disturbed by their machinery.

Please be considerate of your neighbor’s safety as well as your own as you share the street with the large equipment. We appreciate your patience and apologize for any inconveniences these needed improvement changes may create for you.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call our department at
(979) 415-2414. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,
Sal Aguirre, P.E.
City Engineer
