NOTICE TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC OF IMPENDING WESTBOUND
PLANTATION BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION
STARTING MONDAY, FEBRUARY 5, 2018
ATTENTION: Residents, Police, Fire, EMS, School District, City Employees and others.
Beginning Monday, February 5, 2018, contractors will start work on the Westbound Plantation Drive Bridge. The contractors will be installing pollution prevention and access drives along the construction area North and South of the existing Plantation Drive bridge the week prior. The construction project is expected to continue into May and be completed before June. The project consists of extending the current westbound lanes of Plantation Drive across the Velasco Drainage canal to connect to Medical Drive. Any traffic interruptions caused by this work will be intermittent as the majority of the work and equipment will be in the drainage right-of-way and the Plantation Drive street right-of-way near the Velasco Drainage District Canal.
? The contractors will be using heavy construction equipment to drive support pilings into the earth, and pouring concrete streets and ditch slopes. The pile driving operation is expected to be an especially noisy process, but this portion of the work is expected to be completed in the first four to five weeks (weather permitting).
? There will be temporary traffic control signage placed in the area to help manage the traffic flow around the tie-in points at the termination of the Westbound Plantation Drive lanes, and along the East-most lane of Medical Drive. The right lane along Medical Drive nearest the ditch is expected to be closed during this project.
Law enforcement and emergency organizations should disseminate this information to their staff and make any necessary route changes to their normal operations.
Please observe construction zone regulations of directional and speed limit signs being erected and being enforced by our police department. We appreciate your patience and apologize for any inconveniences these needed improvement changes may create for you.
Sincerely,
Sal Aguirre, P.E.
