The Brazoria County Mosquito District has the primary responsibility for mosquito spraying. The City of Lake Jackson supplements this spraying. However, spraying cannot be done while it is raining. So, as soon as the rain stops crews will be spraying and will continue until this latest outbreak is under control.
Residents can protect themselves and their families by using appropriate mosquito repellent and wearing appropriate clothing to protect from mosquitoes when outside. Empty any items outside that hold water like buckets, planters, toys, pools, birdbaths, flowerpots, trash containers, or treat water that cannot be drained.
