[ARCHIVED] Advisory of Taste & Odor Event Within Drinking Water

Brazosport Water Authority (BWA) has recently experienced a taste and odor event. Due to recent heavy rainfall followed by extreme heat, an algae bloom was created within the local water shed. The rainfall of late last week then flushed pockets of taste and odor causing compounds from the algae bloom to the treatment plant intake. Once aware of the issue, BWA immediately began the process of treatment to combat the issue. These taste and odor causing compounds are now clear of the treatment plant and working their way through the local distribution systems. BWA assures that although a taste and odor may exist, the drinking water is safe for consumption. We are working with BWA to take every measure to combat the issue and apologize for any inconvenience.
