[ARCHIVED] Emergency Street Closure on South Yaupon Street Starting 9/6

Due to a mechanical failure, a large tractor will be blocking South Yaupon Street at the intersection of Yaupon and Lotus.  Travel through the 200 block of Yaupon will be suspended until the tractor can be started.  The contractor has mechanics working on this issue and hopes to have the machine started and moved tonight.  This work may spill over into the weekend, so all emergency vehicles should be made aware of the situation to avoid the 200 block of South Yaupon, road closed to thru-traffic.  Signs will be set on both ends and detour signs are being erected to direct traffic to Hickory Street.

The tractor will be repaired and removed as soon as possible.  As of 4:00 pm Friday, September 6, 2019 there is no estimated time of completion, so we are issuing a road closure notice in anticipation of a lengthy repair.  Please make every effort to make plans for the use of alternate routes to your destinations.

We appreciate your patience and apologize for any inconveniences.

Sincerely,

Sal Aguirre, P.E.

City Engineer
