PRESS RELEASE
NOTICE TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC OF IMPENDING ROAD CLOSING
PHASE 6 & 7 L OTUS STREET AND LOTUS COURT CUL DE SAC
ATTENTION: Residents, Police, Fire, EMS, School District, City Employees and all other users.
Work to replace the Lotus Court cul-de-sac has been substantially completed, and the contractor will be finishing driveway and sidewalk work this week. These next two phases of construction have been combined to help move the project faster. The contractor will be ready to remove pavement on the even numbered side of Lotus Street and Lotus Court after Wednesday, October 23, 2019.
The work will begin with the installation of temporary parking along the odd-numbered side of Lotus Street to allow those houses on the court and on the even numbered side of Lotus Street some temporary parking. The contractor , must also complete the driveways and sidewalks in the cul-de-sac before beginning the removal of concrete.
After the pavement is removed in that area, the contractor will then prepare the subgrade and prepare forms for the pavement replacement. Due to the limited parking spaces relative to cars per household, please make every effort to find alternative parking places to allow for a fair distribution to your immediate neighbors. Please relocate any recreation or work equipment to alternate storage parking areas to have access to these as you use them.
We provided detailed information of the construction at the public town meeting held in October 2018 and will provide the affected property owners or public in general with any information as needed through all our available communication media and by direct phone call to the engineering department at (979) 415-2413.
The next phase of work will create a one-direction street on Lotus from So. Yaupon to Hickory as well as a single lane for ingress and egress on Lotus Court. Expect, the periodic traffic disrupt ions and restricted access through the work zone. Please observe the construction zone regulations of the directional and speed limit signs being erected and being enforced by our police department.
Please be considerate of your neighbor's safety as well as your own as you share the street into and out of Lotus Court. Please make every effort to make plans for the use of alternate routes to your destinations. We appreciate your patience and apologize for any inconveniences these needed improvement changes may create for you.
Sincerely,
Sal Aguirre, P.E.
City Engineer
