[ARCHIVED] Emergency Road Closing on Fir St. and Yaupon Dr.

P R E S S  R E L E A S E

NOTICE TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC OF EMERGENCY ROAD CLOSING

ON FIR STREET AND YAUPON DRIVE

STARTING FRIDAY, DECEMBER 13, 2019

ATTENTION: Residents, Police, Fire, EMS, School District, City Employees and all other users.

Due to a failed sewer main and subsequent need for an emergency bypass, a discharge sewer hose will be blocking Fir Street at the intersection of Yaupon and Fir street. Travel through the 100 block of Fir will be suspended until the sewer main can be repaired. The contractor has been scheduled to begin work as soon as possible and hopes to have the work completed by Tuesday, December 17, 2019. This work will spill over through the weekend, so all emergency vehicles should be made aware of the situation to avoid the 100 block of Fir Street until the pipe is replaced. School bus drivers and Postal carriers should also use an alternate route until the pipe is replaced. Signs will be set on both ends and detour signs are being erected to direct traffic to Live Oak Street. There will be utility personnel and contractors working in the area to ensure a speedy repair.

Please make every effort to make plans for the use of alternate routes to your destinations.

We appreciate your patience and apologize for any inconveniences.
