PRESS RELEASE
NOTICE TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC OF IMPENDING ROAD WORK STARTUP
PHASE 9 SOUTH YAUPON STREET (WALNUT TO OLEANDER)
ATTENTION: Residents, Police, Fire, EMS, School District, City Employees and others.
The pavement replacement work on Lotus Street should be wrapping up next week, and the contractor is ready to
begin the demolition of South Ya upon from Walnut to Oleander. They are scheduling the work to begin on Monday,
February 3, 2020.
Phase 9 will consist of removing and replacing the pavement on the even-addressed side of the street. The
contractors will be working on the intersection of Lotus and Yaupon as well, which will create a temporary dead end
at Lotus Street and South Yaupon Street. The 300 block of Lotus Street will be disconnected from South Yaupon
Street until Phase 9 is complete. The drainage crossing on Lotus Street between South Ya upon and Maple Streets is
also scheduled to begin during this phase, which will disconnect Maple Street from South Yaupon Street along Lotus
Street.
We provided detailed information of the construction work at the public town meeting held on October 16, 2018 and
will provide the affected property owners or public in general with any information as needed through all our
available communication media or by direct phone call to the engineering department at (979) 415-2413.
Expect the periodic traffic disruptions and restricted access through the work zone. Please observe construction
zone regulations of the directional and speed limit signs being erected and being enforced by our police department.
Please make every effort to make plans to use the alternate routes to your destinations and exercise caution when
travelling thru the detours in your neighborhood.
Please relocate any parked vehicles or equipment not in daily use to alternate parking areas out of the work zone if
planning to use during the work period in your area, as well as planning for alternate daily parking spots in the
adjacent vicinity as possible, due to limited temporary parking stall space provided. We apologize for any
inconvenience these needed improvement changes may impose on you.
