ATIENTION: Residents, Police, Fire, EMS, School District, City Employees and all other users.
Work on the intersection of South Ya upon Street and Oleander Street is scheduled to begin Tuesday, August 11,
2020. The work consists of removing and replacing the remaining half of the intersection.
Unfortunately, this will cause a dead-end on South Yaupon Street until the concrete cures. The intersection will need
to remain closed to traffic entering and exiting South Ya upon for the duration of the work. The contractor is using
special material to decrease the turn-around time for the intersection, but weather will greatly impact the timeline of
the work which has been estimated to last fourteen (14) days. Oleander Street will remain open to thru traffic in the
established pattern during the work. Traffic will be transferred onto the new concrete to bypass the missing portion
of the intersection to preserve the current direction of traffic flow.
Residents should find alternate routes through the neighborhood until the work is complete, and all first responders
and bus drivers should redesign their routes accordingly. Please observe the construction zone regulations of the
directional and speed limit signs being erected and being enforced by our police department.
Please be considerate of your neighbor’s safety as well as your own as you share the streets around this construction
area. Please make every effort to make plans for the use of alternate routes to your destinations. We appreciate
your patience and apologize for any inconveniences these needed improvement changes may create for you.
