[ARCHIVED] FAQS ANSWERED

FAQ

We’re answering some of your pressing questions about cooling stations, ice and water, trash and more.

COOLING STATION

We want to open a cooling station but we haven’t been able to get power to the Civic Center. We were able to do that quickly in Hurricane Nicholas because we were able to get power immediately after the storm. Once we have power to the Civic Center, we will open the cooling center as soon as we can set it up. We are also looking for a generator to open the library as a cooling center so we don’t have to wait for the Civic Center to get power.

ICE, WATER

We have asked the state for ice and they have agreed to send it. The state has estimated that it will arrive in 24 to 48 hours. In the meantime, we are working with other cities, such as Angleton, that are able to host distribution sites. Watch our FB page for information on sites that will give away supplies. It’s the first place we communicate when time is essential. We post as soon as we can confirm the information about the site and what will be given out.

CENTERPOINT

Centerpoint is setting up 900 trucks and 1800 crew members in MacLean Park on Wednesday morning. Please remember to show them courtesy when you see them in the neighborhoods. Please let them in your backyard so you can get power. Don’t stop to have a conversation with them and move over when you pass them so they can have room to work. *IMPORTANT* When Centerpoint cuts a tree limb on your property, it is your responsibility to remove the limbs.

TRASH

We will begin household trash collection on Thursday. We will not have manpower for recycling, however. We will try to restart recycling next week but keep looking at our FB to find out when we can.

TREE LIMB PICKUP

We are starting debris clearing from the curb soon. Lake Jackson residents do not have to pay for this service so please don’t try to burn your debris. When the crews are ready to begin, we will remind you how to separate your piles. (You can look at our previous social posts for that info now.) We will tell you where the crews will be, then we will pause so residents can put their debris out again.

REMOVING MY TREE

We cannot remove a tree from your property or your neighbors. We can’t remove it because we can’t use taxpayer funds to benefit only one person or private property. We can, however, refer you to a network the county has set up. That number is 979-217-3791.
