We’re answering your post-Beryl questions.
- I have a tree in my backyard/ front yard/ property/ fence or somewhere else on my property. Can you remove it?
We can’t remove your tree from your private property. As a government entity that receives taxpayer funds, we would have to be prepared to remove all our resident’s fallen trees. We cannot do it for one when we cannot do it for everyone.
- Who can help me remove a fallen tree/fix a broken window/ clean up my yard? The County has a resource list and a phone number for assistance. You can visit this link and see if they can lead you to someone who can help you. https://www.brazoriacountytx.gov/departments/emergency-management/hurricane-beryl
- Why is my water brown?
If you have discolored water in your house today, it is safe to drink and meets all state and federal cleanliness standards. You see cloudier and discolored water from the Harris Reservoir. The technical term for this is called “turbid” and it refers to an operation that mixes the water to create more cloudy water with more color in it. We’ve increased our treated well water to supplement the reservoir water. This helps to keep the water less cloudy and colored. We understand that seeing cloudier and more colored water without any notice would concern you and we apologize for the inconvenience. Here is our FB post about it: https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=878746704286910&set=a.220905383404382
- Someone on FB says Lake Jackson had a boil water notice. Please explain that.
Lake Jackson never lost water pressure during or after Hurricane Beryl. The city never had a “boil water” notice. Thirty-three cities did have boil water notices, however. Our crews worked during the storm and after it to ensure that pressure was never lost for our residents.
- I’m on your FB page asking about another city and its operations because you have mentioned your procedures for debris cleanup/closed roads/weathercap help. Can you answer it?
Our FB page is to help people understand what the City of Lake Jackson is doing so we don’t really have any knowledge of the way other cities operate. We do appreciate, however, that you are finding information here that helps you and you are welcome to follow us!
- Xfinity is dropping the ball. Can you make them work faster to restore us?
We are trying to find a good contact for residents to call if they still have issues. We don’t know when we’ll get one but when we do, we will announce it.
