Our October 11 Shred Day produced a whopping turnout of LJ recycle-ers! This event at MacLean Park draws more than 100 residents and neighbors who bring truckloads of recycling to the event long before we start! We are always glad to see the sight! Our community collected 10,500 pounds of documents for shredding. Also, 20 lbs. of plastic grocery store bags will be recycled into benches. The 6 cellular phones we collected will be recycled. The 12 old eyeglasses we collected will be repurposed. The 20 lbs. pounds of string lights we collected were diverted from the landfill. We always thank our community partners Texas Gulf Coast Bank for their efforts to support the mission of Keep Lake Jackson Beautiful. They are important to our ability to host the event. See you in the spring at our next Shred Day!
