TAX RATE IMPACT

The tax rate impact the issuance of these bonds will have on a residential homestead is estimated by making certain assumptions.

Those assumptions are:

  • The bond will be issued in a single issuance. 
  • The average interest rate on the bond will be 4%
  • A maximum maturity of 20 - 25 years

ESTIMATED TAX INCREASE | 4.2 CENTS

Currently the City of Lake Jackson tax rate is $.325929 per $100 of valuation.  If approved, the bond would be sold in a single issuance. The tax rate could increase to about 4.2 cents in fiscal year 2026. 

This rate could gradually decline if no additional bonds are issued or property values are greater than projected. If the voters approve the bond propositions, property taxes on a $100K Lake Jackson home could increase about $43 per year.

SELECTION PROCESS 

The bond projects for this year were selected by City Council based on recommendations from City Staff and key projects identified by the 2019 Bond Task Force. The 2025 bond seeks to address the basic needs of our residents, which include streets, public safety and drainage.
